Questions, answered straight.

Getting started

How long does setup take?
An afternoon. Add services and hours, print the QR, put your link in your bio. That’s the core of it.
Do I need new hardware?
No. Shearlane runs on the phone you have. A tablet by the mirror is nice for the queue board, not required.
Can clients still book by calling?
Of course. Type the booking in yourself; it lands in the same lane as everything else.

Pricing & billing

Is there a free trial?
14 days, full product, no card required. We roll out shop by shop: join the line on the start page and your trial begins the moment your spot opens.
What happens after the trial?
You pick a plan or you walk away. We can’t auto-charge you: there’s no card on file to charge.
Can I change plans later?
Any time. Upgrades apply immediately; downgrades at the next billing date.

WhatsApp messages

Why is there a message allowance at all?
Because WhatsApp charges us per template message. We’d rather show you an honest number than hide it in the subscription.
What counts against the allowance?
Templates sent outside WhatsApp’s free 24-hour window: reminders, mostly. Replies inside the window are free.
What if a client doesn’t use WhatsApp?
The message goes out as SMS automatically, from the same allowance.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored?
In the EU (Frankfurt). GDPR applies, and we sign a DPA with every shop that wants one.
Who owns the client list?
You. Export it as CSV any time, or delete everything, and we mean deleted.
Do you sell or share client data?
No. No marketplace, no ads business, no data resale. The subscription is the entire business model.

Switching from another tool

Can I import clients from Fresha or Booksy?
Yes. Export their CSV and import it. Names, numbers and notes come along.
Will my clients notice the switch?
Only that reminders now arrive on WhatsApp and there’s a QR at the door. There’s nothing for them to install.
Do I lose my old reviews?
Marketplace reviews stay on the marketplace; Google reviews stay on Google, where they lived anyway. Your Google profile keeps working, now with your own Book button.

Your lane to a fresh cut.
